Job summary

Story Contracting Limited is seeking an experienced Civils Gang to work on on-site civils projects around Carlisle. You will join a trusted team, contribute to earthworks, drainage, and concreting, and read drawings to help deliver projects safely and on time.

Ideally you will have a full driving licence, CSCS, and SMSTS (Ganger). The role offers competitive rates, an annual bonus, health plan, and volunteering days as part of our people-focused culture.

Qualifications

• Experience in civils construction is essential.
• Teamwork is required; teams often work together on site.
• A full driving licence is required for site access and travel.
• Dumper and Roller tickets are preferred.
• CSCS card is essential and SMSTS is required for ganger.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities are important.
• Ability to engage with clients and on-site teams.
• Concreting, kerbing and paving experience is desirable.
• Drainage, earthworks and reading drawings are needed.

Responsibilities

• Join civils gangs for multiple projects around Carlisle.
• Work as a well-coordinated team on civils/building sites.
• Read and interpret working drawings for site activities.
• Contribute to earthworks, drainage and structure tasks.
• Maintain safety and relationships with clients and teams.

Summary

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work we are looking to recruit an experienced civils gang to support multiple upcoming civils projects. If you are an established team that work well together and have experience working in a civils/building environment, then we would love to hear from you.

Ideally the gang we are looking for will have proven experience in

• Working in a civils construction business.
• Have worked together for at least 12 months and work well as a team
• A full driving licence
• Dumper and Roller Tickets
• Valid CSCS card
• SMSTS (Ganger only)
• Excellent communication and teamworking ability
• The ability to engage with clients and build relationships with our existing teams on site.
• Concrete finishing
• Kerbing, flagging and paving
• Shallow and deep drainage
• Able to read working drawings

You will need to be positive, enthusiastic and solution focussed, great at building and maintaining relationships. Technically you will have excellent Civil Engineering skills and experience in earthworks, drainage, structures and concreting as well as a sound understanding of safety expectations.

We have a strong pipeline of work offering variety and consistency and a supportive management team in place. In addition to competitive rates of pay we also offer an annual bonus paid in December and reward success in various ways, whether that be by arranging social events or providing a team breakfast on site and there is always the opportunity to gain additional competencies through training . Due to the nature of our business, there is the potential to work weekends with our Rail division where enhanced weekend rates of pay are on offer.
