Job summary

Northern Ireland Electricity Networks Limited seeks an experienced CAD/BIM Technician to deliver engineering drawings and reinforced concrete detailing within infrastructure projects across Northern Ireland. The role requires CAD and BIM proficiency, strong QA practices, and familiarity with CDM duties.

The candidate should hold a UK-accredited HNC/HND or Foundation Degree in Civil/Construction/BIM and own a full UK driving license for business travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in CAD/CAD engineer or BIM role within infrastructure, utilities, construction or built environment.
• UK-accredited HNC/HND or Foundation Degree in Civil/Construction/BIM or related discipline.
• Experience with AutoCAD for engineering drawings in design/project delivery.
• Knowledge of engineering drawing standards and CAD QA processes.
• Experience with reinforced concrete detailing using CAD software (e.g., CADS RC).
• Working knowledge of BIM principles and BIM processes on projects.
• Knowledge of CDM regs and Principal Designer duties.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook.

Job description

• A minimum of 5 years' experience in a CAD Technician CAD Engineer, or BIM Technician role within the infrastructure, utilities, construction, engineering or built environment sectors.
• A UK accredited HNC/HND or Foundation Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, Building Information Modelling (BIM) or a related discipline
• Demonstrable experience in the use of Autodesk AutoCAD for the production of engineering drawings within a design or project delivery environment.
• Knowledge and application of recognised engineering drawing standards, design documentation requirements and CAD quality assurance processes.
• Experience in the production of reinforced concrete detailing using CAD software, including practical experience of CADS RC or equivalent reinforced concrete detailing software.
• Working knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) principles and the use of BIM processes within engineering or construction projects.
• Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM), including an understanding of the duties and responsibilities of the Principal Designer.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Hold a full current UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle that can be used for business travel throughout Northern Ireland.
