Job summary

Search Consultancy is seeking an experienced Civil Site Supervisor to join a major civil engineering project in Newton Abbot. You will oversee daily site operations, coordinate sub-contractors, and enforce high safety and quality standards on site.

In this role you will lead civil gangs, manage plant operators, deliver toolbox talks, monitor progress against schedules, and report on site activities to the Site Manager. A strong civils background and UK work entitlement are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising civil engineering, deep drainage, earthworks or highways.
• Certifications in health and safety and card requirements are mandatory.
• Ability to report and communicate clearly on site.

Civil Site Supervisor

Search Consultancy is looking for an experienced, proactive Civil Site Supervisor to join a major civil engineering project in Newton Abbot. We are partnering with a well-established civil main contractor requiring an attentive supervisor to manage daily site operations, coordinate sub-contractors, and enforce high safety and quality standards.

If you are a Site Supervisor with a strong civils background who excels at keeping workforce gangs on track, enforcing strict safety protocols, and driving project programs forward, we have immediate starts available now.

The Role

• Site Supervision: Managing daily site operations, directing groundworks/civils gangs, plant operators, and sub-contractors to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.

• Health & Safety Management: Delivering daily tool box talks, site inductions, enforcing RAMS compliance, and conducting ongoing hazard and risk assessments.

• Work Progress & Logistics: Monitoring daily output against project schedules, coordinating material deliveries, plant allocations, and managing site access.

• Quality Assurance: Inspecting ongoing works-including drainage, foundations, deep excavations, and surface finishes-to ensure strict adherence to engineering drawings and specifications.

• Client & Management Reporting: Working closely with the Site Manager, updating site diaries, logging shift records, and reporting on progress or technical issues.

Requirements

• Certifications: Valid SSSTS (Site Supervisors' Safety Training Scheme) or SMSTS is mandatory.

• CSCS Card: Valid CSCS Gold Supervisory Card or Black Manager Card.

• First Aid: Valid First Aid at Work certificate is required.

• Experience: Proven track record supervising civil engineering, deep drainage, earthworks, or highways developments.

• Skills: Excellent communication, strong leadership, assertive attitude, and full IT literacy for site reporting.

• Right to Work: Must have a valid right to work in the UK.
