Job summary

Suir Engineering, based in Beauly, Inverness, is seeking a Site Manager to lead a major EP&R BESS project on site. The role covers budgeting, organising, implementing and scheduling project activities, with a focus on safety, quality and timely delivery.

You will oversee mobilization through commissioning, coordinate with engineers and subcontractors, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining strong client and team relations on a high-profile energy project in Scotland.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years’ experience on civil engineering projects.
• 5+ years in a managerial role.
• Valid SMSTS certificate and CSCS card.
• Thorough knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015.
• Expert knowledge of building products and quality standards.
• Good understanding of construction management processes.
• Experience with construction management software.
• Ability to see the big picture and lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the site and coordinate with architects, engineers, buyers, estimators, planners and surveyors.
• Develop the programme of work and project strategy.
• Oversee all site activities from mobilisation to commissioning.
• Lead daily pre-start meetings and address risks.
• Assign contractors and relay design information.
• Plan deliveries and storage of equipment and materials.
• Resolve on-site issues and escalate when needed.
• Monitor progress, milestones and report to the Project Manager.
• Provide on-site supervision and ensure workmanship quality.
• Maintain project documentation and change control.

• Communicate with client, subcontractors, suppliers and workforce.
• Foster positive team environment and leadership.
• Stay updated on industry trends and drive improvements.

We have exciting opportunities for a Site Manager to join Suir Engineering. The position will be based on a EP&R BESS project in Beauly, Inverness

Overall Role Objective

The Site Manager will be responsible for running all or part of a construction site. This will include budgeting, organisation, implementation, and scheduling of the projects.

What you will be doing?

• Preparing the site and liaising with other construction professionals such as architects, engineers, buyers, estimators, [planners] and surveyors before construction work starts.
• Developing the programme of work and strategy for making the project happen.
• Overseeing all aspects of the construction project, from site mobilisation until commissioning stage. Activities will include material procurement, subcontractor management / workforce allocation and the management of quality.
• Leading daily pre-start meetings to discuss the activities for that day and ensure all associated risks are adequately addressed.
• Setting contractors to work, relaying design information from drawings, method statements and other relevant project documents.
• Planning to prevent problems on site before they occur, for example, planning the delivery and storage of equipment and materials.
• Manage and resolve any issues or conflicts during construction, implementing appropriate solutions and escalating when necessary.
• Monitoring progress, tracking milestones and reporting the information to the Project Manager.
• Having a presence on site to provide assistance to sub-contractors and monitor quality of workmanship and adherence to specifications.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including records of site activities, progress reports, change management and as-built drawings.
• Managing all aspects of Health & Safety and maintaining a good relationship with the internal HSE department.
• Communicating with a range of people including the client, subcontractors, suppliers, the public and the workforce.
• Foster a positive work environment, providing leadership, guidance and support to the team and encouraging productivity.
• Stay updated on industry trends, construction technologies and best practices, identifying opportunities for process improvements.
• Any other reasonable and relevant duties as requested by your manager, necessary to meet the ongoing needs of the company.

Qualifications / Skills required

• Relevant degree / diploma or certificate in construction management, architecture, engineering, or related field and/or time served on civil engineering projects (a minimum of 10 years experience required).
• 5+ years of experience in a managerial role.
• Valid SMSTS certificate along with the relevant CSCS card.
• Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods, including thorough knowledge of the CDM Regulations 2015.
• Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
• Understanding of all facets of the construction process.
• Familiarity with construction management software packages.
• Ability to plan and see the 'big picture'.
• Competent in conflict and crisis management.
• Leadership and human resources management skills with a proven track record of building good relationships and motivating staff.
• Knowledge, experience and competence in all aspects of health, safety and the environment.
