Job summary

Galliford Try Environment in Iver, Buckinghamshire, is seeking an experienced Civil Project Engineer to lead civil works from concept through to completion on the Affinity Water AMP 8 framework.

You will deliver both Non-Infra and Infra projects within the water sector, oversee design management, liaise with clients and internal teams, prepare RAMS and project plans, manage budgets, procure materials, and drive safety, quality and continuous improvement on site.

Civil Project Engineer - Environment

Location - Iver, Buckinghamshire

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Civil Project Engineer to join Galliford Try on the Affinity Water AMP 8 Clean Water Framework. Ideally you will be based in a commutable distance to Iver, Buckinghamshire and be willing to travel across the Affinity Water region as needed.

What you will be doing:

• Lead Civil engineering from concept through to completion using in‑house resources and site teams.
• Deliver Non‑Infra and Infra projects within the water sector.
• Oversee design management and liaise with clients and internal teams.
• Conduct early site investigations and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Prepare and review health & safety documentation (RAMS, project plans).
• Procure materials and manage supplier/subcontractor relationships.
• Participate in design reviews and hazard studies to develop optimal solutions.
• Monitor budgets and assist with cost reviews and variation claims.
• Ensure quality and compliance through inspection and test plans.
• Drive innovation while maintaining adherence to standards.
• Prepare and manage project programmes and documentation (as‑built drawings, Operation & Maintenance manuals).
• Champion health & safety and maintain high performance standards.
• Undertake QA activities of subcontractor setting out when required.
• Engage and deliver civil works and packages on site.

About You:

• Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Commercial and contractual awareness.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Organised, proactive, and passionate about delivering excellence.
• Flexible, resilient, and able to influence at all levels.
• A self‑starter with a can‑do attitude and commitment to teamwork.
• Experience in the water industry or Non‑Infra projects (desirable).
• Knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts.
• Knowledge of setting out.

Essential Qualifications and Certifications:

• An industry applicable CivilONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence.
