Job summary

A leading construction group in the UK is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join their team. This role focuses on delivering high-value Clean Water projects, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes. The ideal candidate will have relevant qualifications, strong communication skills, and experience in the Water Industry. Responsibilities

  • Deliver Clean Water projects from inception to completion.

  • Procurement of materials and subcontract orders; manage cost to complete/budgets.

Location: Normanton - West Yorkshire

Project Engineer – Environment

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Engineer to join the Team at Galliford Try to work on high value Yorkshire Water projects. Ideally you will be based in or around Yorkshire and will have the opportunity to work with an experienced team and travel across multiple sites in the Region.

What you will be doing

An opportunity has arisen for a Clean Water biased Project Engineer, experienced at working as a key member of a team successfully delivering schemes of varying sizes predominately to the Water Industry in sewage and clean water. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will work alongside the project delivery team to ensure the design, procurement, financial control and site activities are achieved.

  • Outline engineering from inception to completion of schemes utilising in‑house resources, site installation and construction personnel
  • Delivery of Clean Water projects from Strategic Trunk Mains, distribution mains down to service transfer projects with associated fittings Meter’s PRV’s using a variety of installation methods.
  • Early site investigation works in coordination with the client, design, and project team
  • Production and review of health and safety documentation (risk assessments & method statements / Project management plans).
  • Procurement of materials
  • Attend/undertake factory, site and works testing, commissioning and client training
  • Attendance and input into internal and client design reviews
  • Working closely with the design team to gather all required information, participate in regular design reviews and Hazard Studies to develop the best solution
  • Involvement with cost to complete / budget reviews with the project delivery teams
  • Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Involvement with preparation of subcontract orders
  • Assistance with the evaluation and submission of claims for variation works
  • Liaison with site manager and site teams to ensure work is completed to programme, budget and quality
  • Developing Inspection and Test Plans and ensuring they are completed as the scheme progresses
  • Innovation whilst maintaining compliance to current standards
  • Preparation & management of project programmes
  • Proactive approach to maintaining high standards of Health & Safety performance
  • To work with the team to develop and close out all contract documentation such as, “As built” drawings, Commissioning Manuals and Operation and Maintenance Manuals
About You
  • An industry applicable electrical ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent
  • Proven experience within the Water Industry
  • Commercial and contractual awareness
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Project
  • Desire to understand and promote the Company purpose, vision, values and culture
  • Trustworthy and ethical approach, exercising discretion where required
  • Organised, structured and professional, with a passion for excellence
  • Flexibility, resilience and the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels
  • Excellent communication skills (email/phone/face to face)
  • Commitment to the provision of excellent customer service
  • Proven influencing and negotiation skills to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of leading and managing functions where required
