Eventus Legal in Leicester is seeking a Civil Litigation Solicitor with 3-5 years' PQE to join their award-winning firm. The role offers up to £50,000 depending on experience and a hybrid working pattern after an initial settling-in period, with up to two days per week from home.

You will manage a varied caseload from instruction to resolution, including trials, with opportunities for training and development and a supportive team environment in the East Midlands.

Qualifications

• Must hold Solicitor qualification in England & Wales.
• 3-5 years' PQE in civil litigation is essential.
• Strong understanding of Civil Procedure Rules and related processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil litigation matters from instruction to settlement, final hearing or trial.
• Advise on contractual disputes, negligence, debt recovery and insolvency matters.
• Handle housing disputes for landlords including possession and disrepair cases.
• Manage property disputes (boundaries, easements, nuisance, adverse possession).
• Prepare pleadings, witness statements, applications and settlement agreements.
• Negotiate and represent clients at hearings where appropriate.
• Meet procedural deadlines and comply with Civil Procedure Rules.
• Support business development and client relationships.

Job description

Eventus Legal are seeking a Civil Litigation Solicitor with 3-5 years' post-qualification experience to join an award winning multi service law firm in Leicester, Leicestershire. This is a full-time, permanent job position offering a salary of up to £50,000 dependent on experience, hybrid working after an initial settling-in period with up to two days a week working remotely from home, 25 days' holiday excluding bank holidays, a bonus scheme and clear training and development opportunities. The Civil Litigation Solicitor will manage a varied caseload from initial instruction through to resolution, including trial where necessary.

Role Responsibilities

The Civil Litigation Solicitor in Leicester, Leicestershire will take ownership of a broad caseload of disputes for individuals and businesses, providing pragmatic advice and excellent client service throughout. Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing civil litigation matters independently from initial instruction through to settlement, final hearing or trial
• Advising on contractual disputes, negligence claims, debt recovery and insolvency-related matters
• Handling residential housing litigation, primarily acting for landlords in possession and disrepair claims
• Managing property disputes involving boundaries, easements, neighbours, nuisance and adverse possession
• Preparing pleadings, witness statements, applications, settlement agreements and other legal documents
• Conducting negotiations and representing clients at hearings where appropriate
• Complying with the Civil Procedure Rules, court directions and procedural deadlines across all tracks
• Advising on and negotiating employment settlement agreements using a sound understanding of employment law principles
• Supporting business development
• Assisting the Head of Department and responding to enquiries in their absence when required

Person Specification

Applications are welcomed from commercially aware solicitors in Leicester, Leicestershire who can manage matters confidently and maintain high standards of accuracy and client care. You should be able to demonstrate the following:

• Qualification as a Solicitor in England and Wales with 3-5 years' PQE in civil litigation
• Proven experience of managing a civil litigation caseload independently from instruction to conclusion
• Strong working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and experience of Small Claims, Fast Track, Intermediate Track and Multi-Track cases
• An understanding of the cost recovery rules applying to each track
• Strong written and oral advocacy, drafting and negotiation skills
• Excellent organisation, time management and attention to detail, with the ability to meet strict deadlines
• Commercial awareness and the ability to provide practical, outcome-focused advice
• Excellent client care and relationship-building skills, including the ability to convert enquiries into instructions
• Business development and networking skills are desirable
• Confidence in supporting or supervising colleagues when required is desirable
