Job summary

Express Solicitors, a leading UK personal injury firm, is seeking a Lawyer to join its Civil Liberties team. You will manage your own caseload of police-related actions, including unlawful arrest and human rights matters, handling multi-track work and civil jury trials.

The role requires a strong litigation background, independence, and the ability to work well within a team. Hybrid working, ongoing training, and a comprehensive benefits package are available.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience handling your own Part 7 litigation caseload.
• Exceptional client care and quality control skills.
• Excellent knowledge of the CPR and pre-action disclosure procedure.
• Experience in multi-track work preferred but not essential.
• Experience in running cases to trial with Counsel.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience using case management systems such as Proclaim.
• Excellent IT skills.

Responsibilities

The Role

We are looking for a Lawyer to join our expanding Civil Liberties team. The role will involve running your own caseload of actions against the police and public bodies for matters including unlawful arrest, false imprisonment, human rights breaches, malicious prosecution, misfeasance in public office and judicial reviews. The role will require a strong litigation background, as you will be dealing with predominantly multi-track work and civil jury trials.

Person Specification

• At least 3 years of experience of dealing with your own case load of Part 7 litigation work

• Re-train positions are also offered for a solicitor with a strong civil litigation background of at least 2 years. Full training will be provided

Salary & Hours

• Salary dependent on experience with attractive monthly billing-based bonus
• Our standard working hours are 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday-Thursday and 8:30am to 5pm Friday.

Hybrid Working

3/2 hybrid working pattern after probation.
