Laing O'Rourke invites ambitious students to join our Industry Placement Programme, a 12‑month, live project experience on site. You’ll gain hands‑on engineering exposure, build a professional network and develop technical expertise while applying academic learning in real projects.

Under ICE accreditation and with guidance from Senior Engineers, you’ll work within a site engineering team, learning project delivery, design management and safety practices, paving the way for a long‑term career at

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering or related degree required.
• Interest in site engineering and construction management.
• Willingness to learn and gain hands-on industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Follows safe working practices including wearing PPE and duty of care to yourself and others.
• Provides dimensional control for a section of the works.
• Undertakes as built surveys and presents results for project records.
• Raises Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for non-conformances and reports potential non-conformances to line manager.
• Maintains quality control records in accordance with the Inspection & Test Plan.
• Assists site engineers with filing drawings and construction information and completes site records.
• Assists site engineers with materials quantification and testing.
• Reads and understands method statements and ensures site operations follow them, reporting variances.
• Understands Temporary Works & Lifting procedures.
• Communicates basic technical information clearly and promptly.
• Interprets design information and flags insufficient detail to supervising engineers.
• Understands basic operation of 3D models within the project context.
