Who are we?

Within Alliance, we are a collaborative organization comprising eight partner companies (Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska, and SWECO) and our extended supply chain. We deliver over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment program.

As part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, we are seeking a Civil Engineer to support the delivery of Water Non-Infrastructure (WNI) projects.

What will you be doing as our new Civil Engineer in WNI?

You will develop civil designs that align with our capital investment goals and deliver value. Reporting to the project Technical Manager, you will work on Water Non-Infrastructure projects related to potable water assets within water treatment works or storage sites.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Producing civil designs, calculations, and specifications for water-sector assets, including pipes made of ductile iron, steel, and plastic.
  2. Collaborating within multi-discipline design teams to deliver designs on time, within budget, and to standards, while liaising with Operations, contractors, and suppliers.
  3. Promoting health and safety in design by eliminating hazards and reducing risks, in line with Alliance CDM procedures.
  4. Advancing projects from feasibility to detailed design and construction.
  5. Conducting site visits to assess asset conditions, support feasibility studies, and gather survey data for design integration.
  6. Supporting updates and expansion of Standard Products used in our designs for repeatability.
  7. Identifying and promoting opportunities to meet digital, sustainability, innovation, and people objectives.

Skills, experience, and behaviors:

You should hold a BEng or MEng/MSc Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, ideally working towards Chartered Engineer status. You should have experience with structural calculations for concrete structures, civil engineering design within the Water industry, and proficiency with relevant design software. Familiarity with British Standards and Eurocodes, and the ability to interpret ground investigation reports, are essential.

You must be capable of effective communication with diverse stakeholders, possess strong report writing and data analysis skills, and be enthusiastic about improving ways of working.
