Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley are recruiting a Civil Engineer to join the Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA). You will provide civil engineering expertise within a multi-disciplinary team to develop and deliver innovative, value-for-money solutions for water and pipeline projects.

Ideally you will hold a minimum HNC/HND in Civil Engineering with experience in the water sector. You will use MS Office, CAD, BIM and GIS tools, interpret ground investigations, and work to British Standards and Eurocodes

Qualifications

  • Minimum of HNC/HND in Civil Engineering.
  • Solid industry experience, preferably in water projects.
  • Experience designing civil structures for water industry preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office and design software; knowledge of British Standards and Eurocodes.
  • Ability to interpret ground investigation reports.

Responsibilities

  • Provide designs which are innovative and deliver value for money.
  • Produce calculations and specifications for water or pipeline projects.
  • Liaise with CAD Engineers to produce construction drawings in CAD, BIM, and GIS.
  • Work within a multi-discipline design team to meet time, budget and standards.
  • Deliver design and related activities in SPA programme.
  • Promote health and safety in design per CDM procedures.

Job description

Mott MacDonald Bentley are recruiting for a Civil Engineer to join the Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA).

The 330km Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) Project by Anglian Water is under construction and will be completed during AMP8. Beyond this we have a further 260km of water transfer pipelines and associated infrastructure to be delivered in AMP8.

What will you be doing as our new Civil Engineer?

Working as a talented Civil Engineer within a multi-disciplinary project team, you’ll provide the civil engineering technical capability and design expertise to develop and deliver engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities:

Provide designs which are innovative and deliver value for money whilst acting as a proactive Engineer by applying engineering principles.

Produce calculations and specifications standard for water or pipeline projects, liaising directly with CAD Engineers to enable production of construction drawings in CAD, BIM, and GIS environment.

Working within a multi-discipline design team produce design outputs which are on time, within budget and meet the required standards

Take ownership to deliver design and associated activities in your section of the SPA programme of works.

Drive excellence in Health and Safety in design by eliminating hazards and reducing risks during design whilst complying with Alliance CDM procedures.

A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours….

Ideally you’ll hold a minimum of HNC/HND in Civil Engineering and have solid experience within the industry, preferably with experience within the water industry.

Demonstrable experience in undertaking design of various civil engineering structures ideally the water industry (other industries will be considered)

Comfortable using MS office suite and relevant engineering design software packages, and confident in the utilisation of British Standards and Eurocodes

Ability to interpret ground investigation reports to enable you to design the correct solution.

This role is employed by Mott MacDonald but will involve working across the joint venture business, both with Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley colleagues.
