Calibre Search is looking for a developing Civil Engineer in Leeds to join an established multidisciplinary consultancy. You will work on projects integrating civil engineering, flood risk, water and the environment, gaining broad exposure and guidance from experienced engineers.
You'll build foundational skills, progress toward ICE/CIWEM Chartership, and gradually take on more responsibility as you learn the full project lifecycle, including feasibility through to delivery.
Leeds
You've got the degree. You've probably got a couple of years of experience behind you. Now you need the projects, people and exposure that will actually move your career forward.
This is an opportunity for a developing Civil Engineer to join an established multidisciplinary Consultancy in Leeds, working on projects that combine Civil Engineering, flood risk, water and the environment.
You don't need to arrive knowing everything.
What matters more is that you've built some good foundations, you're interested in developing technically and you want to work alongside experienced Engineers who can help you take the next step.
The project mix is one of the biggest attractions.
You'll have the opportunity to work across Environment Agency, water company, local authority and private sector schemes, getting involved in projects from early feasibility and optioneering right through design and delivery.
Rather than spending every day doing one small part of a project, you'll gradually build an understanding of how the whole thing comes together.
That could mean supporting Civil Engineering and flood risk design, helping investigate different options, contributing to technical reviews, attending design workshops, responding to project and site queries or working with specialists from other disciplines to develop practical solutions.
You'll also get exposure to clients, contractors, statutory bodies and other stakeholders as your experience develops.
It's the kind of environment where you can start building the broader skills that eventually turn a good Engineer into a very good one.
You'll learn how engineering decisions are made, how designs develop, how risks are managed and how multidisciplinary projects actually move from an idea on a screen through to something that can be delivered on site.
There is plenty of structure around your development too.
You'll work alongside experienced senior Engineers who can provide technical guidance and support, with the opportunity to continue progressing towards professional qualification and Chartership through ICE, CIWEM or another relevant institution.
The Consultancy is open-minded about exactly where you are in your career.
You might already be working as a Civil Engineer, Flood Risk Engineer, Water Engineer or Environmental Engineer and looking for broader project exposure. Equally, you may be approaching Senior level and looking for somewhere that can give you the responsibility and development needed to make that progression.
A background covering some of the following would be useful:
You certainly don't need experience across all of these areas.
More importantly, you'll be someone who asks questions, wants to understand why things are designed the way they are and is keen to gradually take on more responsibility as your confidence grows.
Based in Leeds with hybrid working available, you'll become part of a wider UK team while still having experienced colleagues around you locally. There will also be opportunities to attend sites, project meetings and workshops rather than spending your entire working week behind a desk.
If you're early enough in your career that you still have plenty to learn, but experienced enough to know you want more from your next move, this could give you the platform to build a really strong career in Civil Engineering, flood risk and water.
We welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified candidates regardless of their sex, race, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age.
