Aldwych Consulting is seeking a Civil Engineer to join its Bristol office, focusing on development infrastructure. You will work on highways, drainage, and earthworks across residential, commercial and public sector projects in the UK, in a collaborative team with progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil infrastructure design, ideally highways and/or drainage.
• Background on UK development infrastructure projects.
• Good knowledge of design standards and approval processes.
• Proficient with design software: Civil 3D, MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow, PDS.
• Experience delivering residential, commercial or mixed-use developments.
• BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and delivery of highways and drainage infrastructure for development schemes.
• Produce highway designs (S38 / S278) at preliminary and detailed design stages.
• Support drainage designs (S104 / S98) including surface water and foul drainage and SuDS.
• Assist with earthworks and site level design.
• Collaborate with planners, architects, external consultants, and approvals bodies.
• Prepare technical drawings, calculations and design docs.

An established and highly regarded development infrastructure consultancy is looking to appoint a Civil Engineer into its growing Bristol office. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer with a background in infrastructure design to join a collaborative and forward-thinking team working on a wide range of residential, commercial and public sector projects across the UK. This role would suit someone who enjoys technical design work, wants exposure to varied development schemes, and is looking to continue building their experience in a supportive environment with strong progression opportunities.

The Opportunity

You’ll be joining a people-focused consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, sustainable development infrastructure solutions. Working as part of an experienced and supportive team, you'll be involved in the design and coordination of highways, drainage and earthworks packages across a broad range of development projects, gaining exposure to schemes from early concept through to detailed design and approvals.

Projects are varied and can include:

• Residential developments and housing schemes
• Commercial and mixed-use developments
• Retail and logistics projects
• Education facilities
• Public realm and regeneration schemes
• Utility and infrastructure upgrades
• Major public sector developments

The Role

Responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the design and delivery of highways and drainage infrastructure for development schemes
• Producing highway designs (S38 / S278) at preliminary and detailed design stages
• Supporting the delivery of drainage designs (S104 / S98) including:
  • Surface water drainage
  • Foul drainage
  • SuDS design
  • Flow control and attenuation / balancing solutions
  • Foul pumping stations
• Assisting with earthworks and site level design
• Working closely with planners, architects, external consultants, and approving authorities
• Supporting project delivery from feasibility through to detailed design and approvals
• Producing technical drawings, calculations, and design documentation
• Collaborating with senior engineers and technicians to ensure high-quality project delivery

What We're Looking For

To be considered, you should have:

• Experience in civil infrastructure design, ideally within highways and/or drainage
• A background working on UK development infrastructure projects
• Good working knowledge of relevant design standards and approval processes
• Experience using software such as:
  • Civil 3D
  • MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage
  • Causeway Flow
  • PDS
• Experience contributing to designs for residential, commercial or mixed-use developments
• A BEng / MEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent relevant experience)
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and develop within a team environment
