Job summary

Carrington West is recruiting a Senior Civil 3D Technician for a London-based hybrid contract role. You will produce detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for highways, drainage and earthworks, coordinating with engineers and other disciplines.

The ideal candidate has extensive Civil 3D experience, BIM workflow knowledge, and familiarity with CDEs; you will attend the London office 2-3 days per week and support projects from concept through detailed design.

Qualifications

• Strong Civil 3D and AutoCAD proficiency.
• Experience across highways, drainage, earthworks and infrastructure modelling.
• Knowledge of BIM workflows and CDEs.
• Familiarity with Navisworks, Revit, InfoDrainage or MicroDrainage a plus.
• Excellent communication and coordination within multidisciplinary teams.
• Able to attend London office 2-3 days per week.

Senior Civil 3D Technician

Rate: £35-£40 per hour

Are you an experienced Civil 3D Technician looking for your next contract opportunity in London?

We are currently looking for a Senior Civil 3D Technician to join an established, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, supporting the delivery of a diverse portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

The role will suit a technically strong technician with extensive Civil 3D experience, particularly across highways, drainage, utilities and earthworks. You will work closely with engineers and other design disciplines to produce high-quality technical drawings and 3D models across projects at various stages of development.

This is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days per week in the London office, offering a competitive hourly rate and an Outside IR35 arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Develop highways, access roads, drainage networks, utilities and earthworks models.
• Support civil engineering projects from concept and feasibility through to detailed design.
• Produce highway alignments, surface models, sections and associated technical drawings.
• Coordinate design information across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Undertake clash detection and support BIM coordination processes.
• Ensure drawings and models comply with relevant design standards and project requirements.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians where required.

About You

• Strong experience working as a Civil 3D Technician within a civil engineering consultancy.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Proven experience across highways, drainage, earthworks and infrastructure modelling.
• Good understanding of BIM workflows and digital engineering processes.
• Experience working with Common Data Environments (CDEs).
• Familiarity with Navisworks, Revit, InfoDrainage or MicroDrainage would be advantageous.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Comfortable working independently and managing technical deliverables.
• Able to attend the London office 2-3 days per week.
