Job summary

University of East Anglia is recruiting a Civic and Public Affairs Administrator to support Civic and Public Affairs and the Vice-Chancellor’s Office. The role involves managing diaries, organising meetings and events, and preparing reports and documents while monitoring financial processes and stakeholder engagement activities.

You will be the first point of contact for academics, parliamentary staff and regional organisations, ensuring enquiries are directed appropriately.

Qualifications

  • Educated to A-level standard with five GCSEs at grades A–C (including English and Mathematics) or equivalent qualifications/experience.
  • Recent administrative experience and strong organisational skills essential.
  • Confidence with IT systems and financial processes and excellent written and verbal communication are essential.
  • Experience of event organisation, supporting projects and taking minutes at senior meetings is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage diaries and organise meetings and events.
  • Prepare reports and documents and monitor financial processes.
  • Maintain oversight of stakeholder engagement activities and act as a first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor Civic, Civic Executive Officer and Head of Public Affairs to provide high-quality administrative support.

Civic and Public Affairs Administrator

Ref: SC5047

Salary on appointment will be £26,707 per annum, with an annual increment up to £30,378 per annum.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Civic and Public Affairs Administrator to provide support to these important areas of work for the university.

The Civic and Public Affairs Administrator will work closely with the Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor Civic, the Civic Executive Officer, the Head of Public Affairs to provide flexible and high-quality administrative support. Key responsibilities include managing diaries, organising meetings and events, preparing reports and documents, monitoring financial processes and maintaining oversight of stakeholder engagement activities. You will also act as a first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including academics, parliamentary staff and regional organisations, ensuring enquiries are handled effectively and directed to the appropriate person.

You should be educated to A-level standard with five GCSEs at grades A–C (including English and Mathematics) or have equivalent qualifications or experience. Recent administrative experience, strong organisational skills, confidence with IT systems and financial processes, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are all essential. Experience of event organisation, supporting projects and taking minutes at senior meetings is also required. Familiarity with procurement and CRM systems, experience in higher education, business or local government, and some understanding of politics or the civic university agenda would be advantageous.

This full-time post is available from 14 October 2026 on a fixed-term basis for 2 years.
