Job summary

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is seeking a Citywide Responsive Officer to drive or operate a range of vehicles and equipment to support an effective environmental and waste service. You will help maintain neighbourhoods and respond to environmental issues across the city, engaging with residents to keep streets clean and safe.

Applicants should hold a Category B licence, understand highway hazards, have experience of heavy manual work, and be able to communicate via mobile and work as part of a

Qualifications

  • Hold a driving licence (Category B) with no more than 6 points.
  • Knowledge of hazards and dangers of working on a public highway.
  • Experience of heavy, prolonged manual work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively over a mobile phone and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain clean, safe and well presented neighbourhoods and communal areas.
  • Remove litter, graffiti, fly tipped waste, hazardous waste.
  • Carry out garden clearances, estate maintenance and upkeep of street furniture and open spaces.
  • Collect, deliver and exchange waste and recycling containers across the city.
  • Respond promptly to reports of vandalism and environmental issues, carrying out repairs or remedial action.
  • Engage positively with residents and local communities.
