Job description

This exciting new role is based in London and has come about following Citi's ongoing commitment to support the international growth plans of UK Mid-Market businesses.

Citi Commercial Bank UK (CCB UK) was established in 2016 to support the international growth plans of UK headquartered Mid-Market businesses with annual turnover up to £3bn. To serve UK Mid-Market companies with international growth plans, we have created a dedicated Consumer and Retail client coverage team. The team's objective is to leverage Citi's global commercial banking offering to provide value to UK-based Consumer and Retail companies. This role reports to the UK CCB Consumer and Retail lead and is responsible for new client acquisition and deepening relationships with existing clients.

The ideal candidate will have strong credit skills, a proven record of originating new business, and robust client relationship management experience. Knowledge of UK sectors such as 'Consumer and Retail goods', 'Food and Beverages', and 'Agriculture' is essential, along with connections across the UK commercial banking market.

Key Skills & Responsibilities:
  1. Self-originate new, multi-product, multi-country clients for CCB UK, and manage those relationships ongoing.
  2. Identify suitable clients using strong communication, presentation, and analytical skills to lead credit approval processes.
  3. Lead client credit relationships, coordinate processes, ensure policy compliance, and assess risk with a focus on the bank's reputation and safety.
  4. Engage with C-suite executives (CEO, CFO, Treasury) to maximize 'One Citi' client experience, leveraging Citi's insights and solutions.
  5. Deliver value by understanding client problems, identifying solutions, and managing client-level planning, revenue, and cross-sell opportunities.
  6. Collaborate with product teams, risk teams, junior bankers, and global CCB structures to develop opportunities.
  7. Develop relationships with industry influencers and advocates, and represent the CCB UK franchise externally.
  8. Support product implementation and onboarding, ensuring smooth processes through internal coordination.
  9. Maintain disciplined sales management via CRM (Salesforce).
  10. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and KYC requirements.
  11. Demonstrate strong personal branding, communication, relationship management, and financial analysis skills. Ability to influence stakeholders and originate new business is crucial.
  12. Work with the UK Consumer & Retail Lead to deliver strategic goals and enhance team profile.
  13. Foster a collaborative culture and support the coaching and development of colleagues.
Education & Technical Skills:
  • Extensive experience in credit/risk management, banking, and relationship management.
  • Graduate or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
  • Understanding of lending and onboarding processes is advantageous.

Exceptional candidates with relevant skills but lacking some criteria will still be considered.
