Job summary

Matalan is seeking a Head of Cyber Security / CISO to lead the company's cyber security strategy, governance, risk management and resilience at senior level.

You will own the cyber risk program, manage security architecture, incident readiness and supplier security, and translate technical risk into clear business outcomes that protect customers and colleagues.

This role requires strategic vision, strong leadership, and the ability to drive improvements across IT and supplier ecosystems.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading enterprise-scale cyber security programs.
• Strong governance, risk, and compliance knowledge.
• Experience translating technical risk into business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop internal cyber security capability across governance, architecture, delivery and improvement.
• Provide senior cyber security leadership to IT leadership and governance forums.
• Oversee performance management of cyber security contractors and MSPs.
• Own and maintain cyber security strategy, roadmap and risk posture.
• Embed cyber security into technology strategy and supplier solutions.
• Oversee security operations, monitoring, vulnerability management and identity controls.
• Lead incident readiness, response coordination and lessons learned.
• Drive continuous improvement of cyber controls via audits and threat intel.
• Oversee third-party cyber risk with procurement and legal teams.
