Job summary

Public Service Ombudsman is seeking a Head of Cyber Security (CISO) to lead the organisation's security strategy and operations, protecting digital services, cloud platforms and sensitive data. The role reports to senior leadership and requires close collaboration with architecture, engineering, product and delivery teams.

The postholder will shape cyber security capability, drive improvements, and provide clear security guidance to Board and executive teams as we maintain trust and resilience

Qualifications

• Forward-thinking cyber security leader who can turn strategy into practical action.
• Confident in balancing cyber risks, organisational priorities and available resources.
• Experienced in building effective security capabilities and holding suppliers to account.
• Skilled at creating ownership and driving improvements across organisational boundaries.
• A clear and credible communicator who can influence decisions at Board and executive level.

Responsibilities

• Set cyber security strategy for the organisation and ensure alignment with digital services.
• Oversee security operations and respond to significant incidents.
• Manage vulnerabilities and review security controls across services and systems.
• Provide clear security advice to senior leaders and executives.
• Work with architecture, engineering, product and delivery teams to mature security capability.
