Job summary

Whitworths is seeking a hands-on Coating Process Technician to take ownership of our coating lines, turning carefully controlled recipes into consistently high‑quality products. You’ll mix and deposit chocolate, monitor performance and solve problems on the production line, while upholding safety and food quality standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within food manufacturing
• Ability to understand and follow safety-critical instructions
• Practical problem-solving and decision-making
• Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
• Good communication skills and confidence to work with different teams
• Reliable, organized and self-motivated
• Flexibility to respond to changing production priorities
• Willingness to learn and develop in role
• Potential for line-minding or team-leading experience would be advantageous
• Familiarity with HACCP/IFS/6S is a plus

Responsibilities

• Set up, start and operate equipment across the coating department
• Mix and deposit chocolate accurately following recipes
• Complete quality inspections and record results correctly
• Monitor line performance, investigate issues and escalate concerns
• Ensure materials, equipment and resources are ready when needed
• Maintain high standards of food safety, allergen control, hygiene and housekeeping
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce waste
• Keep the line clean, organised and audit-ready
• Support product trials, factory audits and improvement projects
• Share knowledge and help train and develop colleagues
