Job Title CHILLER & HVAC SERVICE ENGINEER

Location: CENTRAL LONDON

PLEASE NOTE: This is a mobile, field-based engineering position focused primarily on Central London, with additional coverage across Greater London and surrounding counties where required.

Ideally, candidates will be based within London or suitably located surrounding areas, with practical access to Central London. My client would also consider engineers from the wider Home Counties, depending on their experience, location and willingness to travel.

Job Description

Are you a technically strong Chiller or HVAC Service Engineer with proven experience in fault finding, repair, service and maintenance across commercial chiller and applied HVAC systems?

Do you want to join a highly respected, award-winning UK HVAC solutions business where your technical expertise, professionalism and customer approach will be genuinely valued and supported?

We are partnered with a market-leading UK HVAC business with an outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality heating, cooling and ventilation solutions across commercial, industrial and specialist environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and self-motivated mobile engineer to join an established and growing service operation, working primarily across Central London and the surrounding areas.

The role will suit an engineer who takes pride in technical standards, enjoys working autonomously in the field and is confident representing a high-quality business in front of customers.

The Company

My client is a successful and well-regarded UK HVAC product, service and turnkey solutions provider with a strong reputation built through professionalism, delivery and engineering expertise.

The business supports clients across a broad range of commercial, industrial and specialist built environment settings, delivering high-quality HVAC solutions including chillers, heat pumps, air handling units, refrigeration, comfort cooling and associated systems.

With a clear commitment to quality, service and the continuous development of its people, my client offers an excellent platform for engineers seeking stability, progression and the opportunity to build a long-term career within a technically credible and forward-thinking business.

The Opportunity

Due to continued demand across its service operation, my client is looking to appoint a high-calibre Chiller & HVAC Service Engineer to support customers primarily throughout Central London and the wider surrounding territory.

Operating remotely in the field, you will be responsible for service, maintenance, fault finding, repair and technical support across my client's equipment and, where required, other manufacturers' systems.

The position will place particular emphasis on commercial chillers and heat pumps, with wider involvement across air handling units, refrigeration, air conditioning and associated HVAC equipment.

Experience with Turbocor technology would be particularly advantageous, although this is not essential.

Working closely with customers, the Service Manager, service support engineers and other internal departments, you will play an important role in maintaining technical reliability, service standards and strong customer relationships.

The Role

This is a mobile engineering position focused on the service, repair, maintenance and fault diagnosis of commercial chiller and wider applied HVAC systems.

The majority of activity will take place across Central London, with some flexibility to support customers elsewhere throughout Greater London and the surrounding counties.

You will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy while maintaining effective communication with the wider service and technical support teams.

The position requires strong technical competence, sound judgement on site, a proactive approach and the ability to deliver consistently high standards across commercial, industrial and potentially sensitive customer environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out service, maintenance, repair and fault-finding activities across my client's and other manufacturers' commercial chillers, heat pumps and wider HVAC equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical and refrigeration-related faults accurately and efficiently.
  • Work across applied HVAC equipment, including chillers, refrigeration systems, air conditioning, air handling units and associated systems.
  • Deliver planned maintenance and reactive service work while maintaining excellent technical standards and customer service.
  • Liaise directly with customers, providing clear updates, technical feedback and a professional service experience.
  • Complete site reports, service documentation, timesheets and expenses accurately and within prescribed timeframes.
  • Communicate effectively with the Service Manager, Service Support team and other engineers to support service response and productivity.
  • Liaise with internal technical support, controls and spares departments where required to resolve equipment and system issues.
  • Maintain strong health and safety standards, complying with company procedures and customer site requirements.
  • Represent the business professionally and contribute positively to its reputation and customer relationships.
  • Continue developing technical knowledge, product understanding and engineering capability.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
  • Proven experience servicing, repairing, maintaining and fault finding on commercial chillers, ideally alongside heat pumps and associated HVAC equipment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding capability, with confidence diagnosing complex technical problems.
  • Experience working within commercial, industrial or technically demanding environments, including sites where operational reliability is particularly important.
  • Good working knowledge of wider HVAC systems, including refrigeration, air conditioning and air handling equipment.
  • Turbocor knowledge would be highly advantageous and may justify additional package flexibility.
  • Previous experience operating independently within a mobile field service engineering role.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
  • The ability to manage workloads independently while remaining aligned with internal service processes and reporting requirements.
  • Sound health and safety awareness and a commitment to best practice on customer sites.
  • Computer literacy and confidence completing digital service reports and associated documentation.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • F-Gas certification would be advantageous, with appropriate certification required for any refrigerant-handling duties.
  • CITB Skills Card would be advantageous.
  • Controls knowledge would be advantageous.
The Person

This role will suit an experienced, technically capable engineer who enjoys responsibility, problem solving and delivering high-quality engineering work in the field.

You may already be working as a Chiller Engineer, HVAC Service Engineer, Refrigeration Engineer or experienced Service Technician within a relevant commercial or industrial environment.

You will be confident working independently, comfortable dealing directly with customers and capable of diagnosing and resolving technical issues across complex HVAC equipment.

A strong grounding in commercial chillers will be particularly important, alongside the willingness and capability to support a wider range of applied HVAC systems.

You will be organised, reliable and professional, understanding the importance of responsiveness, accurate reporting and maintaining customer confidence.

Most importantly, you will want to join a business where engineering quality matters, technical capability is recognised and there is genuine opportunity for continued professional development.

What's in it for you?
  • Highly competitive salary package, dependent on experience, with flexibility for particularly relevant chiller or Turbocor expertise. (£60k+ earnings)
  • Strong overtime rates.
  • Company van.
  • Pension and healthcare benefits.
  • Business expenses.
  • Company mobile and laptop.
