Job summary

SRS Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Chiller & HVAC Service Engineer to join a market-leading UK HVAC provider. The role is field-based across the Midlands and North, requiring autonomous field service delivery, fault finding, repair and maintenance of chillers, heat pumps and related HVAC systems.

You will work with customers to uphold high service standards, while developing technical knowledge and progressing within a reputable engineering organisation.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in service, repair, maintenance and fault finding of chillers, heat pumps, AHUs or similar HVAC equipment in commercial/industrial settings.
  • Good working knowledge of HVAC systems including refrigeration, air conditioning and air handling.
  • FGAS certification advantageous but not essential; Turbocor knowledge may justify salary flexibility.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding capability.
  • Experience working autonomously in a mobile field service role.
  • Good communication and professional customer-facing skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative while following internal service processes.

  • Diagnose and resolve electrical/mechanical faults to high standards.

  • Liaise with customers and internal teams to support productivity and service delivery.
  • Represent the business professionally to uphold market reputation and customer relationships.

The Opportunity

Due to continued growth and increasing demand across the service side of the business, my client is looking to appoint a high calibre Chiller & HVAC Service Engineer to support service activity across the Midlands and North.

Operating remotely in the field, you will be responsible for carrying out service, maintenance, fault finding, repair and general technical support across my client’s equipment and, where required, other manufacturers’ systems.

The role will place particular emphasis on chillers, heat pumps, AHUs and dehumidification equipment, although wider exposure to air conditioning, refrigeration and associated HVAC systems will also be valuable.

You will work closely with customers and internal support teams, acting as a visible and professional representative of the business while helping to maintain high service standards, technical reliability and strong customer relationships.

The Role

This is a field-based engineering role focused on the service, repair, maintenance and fault diagnosis of chiller and wider HVAC systems across the Midlands and North UK.

You will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy while maintaining close communication with the service support team and wider internal departments.

The position requires strong technical competence, sound judgement on site, a proactive attitude and the ability to deliver work to a consistently high standard across a range of customer environments, including commercial, industrial and other potentially sensitive sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out service, maintenance, repair and fault-finding work across my client’s and other manufacturers’ chillers, heat pumps and wider HVAC equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults to a high standard of accuracy and professionalism
  • Work across applied HVAC systems including chillers, refrigeration, air conditioning, air handling and associated equipment
  • Complete service activity efficiently while maintaining excellent technical and customer standards on site
  • Liaise closely with customers to provide updates, technical feedback and a professional service experience
  • Submit site reports, timesheets, expenses and associated paperwork accurately and within required timeframes
  • Communicate effectively with the Service Manager, Service Support team and other engineers to support productivity and service response
  • Maintain strong health and safety standards at all times, both internally and on customer sites.
  • Represent the business professionally to support its market reputation and customer relationships
  • Continue building technical knowledge and product understanding in support of long-term development
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

Proven track record in the service, repair, maintenance and fault finding of chillers, heat pumps, AHUs, dehumidifiers or other applied HVAC equipment within commercial, industrial or other technically demanding environments

Good working knowledge of broader HVAC systems such as refrigeration, air conditioning and air handling equipment

Turbocor knowledge would be highly advantageous and may justify salary flexibility, but is not essential

Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding capability

Previous experience working autonomously in a mobile field service role

Good communication skills and the ability to deal professionally with customers and colleagues

Ability to work on your own initiative while remaining aligned with internal service processes

Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, solutions focused approach

Health and safety awareness and commitment to best practice on site

Computer literacy and confidence completing digital reports and service documentation

Full UK driving licence

FGAS certification would be advantageous

CITB Skills Card would be advantageous

Controls knowledge would be advantageous

The Person

This role will suit someone who enjoys responsibility, technical problem solving and the satisfaction of delivering high quality engineering work in the field.

You may already be operating as a Chiller Engineer, HVAC Engineer, Refrigeration Engineer or Service Technician within a relevant commercial or industrial setting and now be looking for a role with a stronger platform, better support and greater long-term potential.

You will be someone who takes pride in technical standards, works well independently and understands the importance of professionalism, responsiveness and customer confidence on site.

You will be comfortable handling service, repair and maintenance activity across a range of HVAC systems, with confidence around chillers and closely aligned equipment.
