Job summary

Carrier is seeking a Chiller Engineer to join our Rental team in the UK, supporting the preparation, installation, commissioning, and ongoing operation of temporary cooling/heating solutions for customers.

The role delivers safe, reliable rental solutions, including temporary chiller plant and ancillaries, installed, commissioned, maintained, and recovered to high standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in rental/HVAC/chiller or temporary plant environments.
• Qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
• Full UK Driving Licence (or equivalent).
• City & Guilds or equivalent in Safe Handling of Refrigerants.
• F-Gas qualification (Category 1).
• Technical competence with Carrier and/or other manufacturers’ chillers or temporary rental equipment.
• Experience working safely on customer sites, including temporary installations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, install, commission, maintain, and decommission temporary rental equipment (chillers, pumps, hoses, heat exchangers).
• Support rental projects from site attendance to equipment handover, ensuring safety and fit for purpose.
• Carry out site surveys and determine equipment requirements with Rental Operations.
• Troubleshoot operational issues on-site and remotely to minimise downtime.
• Commission temporary systems and advise on site connections, flow, power, and controls.
• Attend customer sites and meetings with minimal supervision and provide updates.

We're currently seeking an additional Chiller Engineer to join our growing Rental team, supporting the preparation, installation, commissioning, and ongoing operation of temporary cooling and heating solutions for our customers.

The successful candidate will deliver safe, reliable, and customer-focused rental solutions, including temporary chiller plant, ancillary equipment, and associated systems. The role will ensure equipment is installed, commissioned, maintained, and recovered to the highest standard.

Role Responsibilities

• Prepare, install, commission, maintain, and decommission temporary rental equipment, including chillers, pumps, hoses, heat exchangers, and associated ancillaries.


• Support the delivery of rental projects from initial site attendance through to equipment handover, ensuring the installation is safe, practical, and fit for customer requirements.


• Carry out site surveys, identify suitable equipment requirements, and work with the Rental Operations team to ensure the correct solution is delivered.


• Troubleshoot and support operational issues on rental equipment, both on-site and remotely, to minimise customer downtime.


• Commission temporary systems and advise on wider site connections, flow, power, controls, and operational considerations beyond the equipment supply.


• Attend customer sites and meetings with minimal supervision, providing clear updates on rental works, safety requirements, progress, and next steps.


• Read and interpret technical documents such as wiring diagrams, P&ID drawings, flow schematics, and site-specific method statements.

Qualification And Experience Requirements

• Experience within a similar rental, HVAC, chiller, or temporary plant environment, ideally involving large industrial water chillers.


• Qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.


• Full UK Driving Licence (or equivalent).


• City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Safe Handling of Refrigerants.


• F-Gas qualified (Category 1).


• Technical competence is required, with relevant experience of Carrier and/or other manufacturers’ chiller, HVAC, or temporary rental equipment.


• Experience working safely on customer sites, including temporary installations, plant rooms, external compounds, and live operational environments.

Pay Range

The annual base salary for this position is between £44,128 - £49,706.

Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.

Other Compensation

This position is entitled to call-out payments and overtime.
