Job summary

TRP Recruitment Limited is seeking a creative and commercially driven Childrenswear Designer for a fast-paced supplier working with leading UK retailers. The role is based in Leicester with a hybrid arrangement, requiring 2–3 days in the office each week.

You will design trend-led childrenswear ranges, translate concepts into commercially viable products, and present ideas to key accounts. Strong industry knowledge, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop skills, and excellent communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a childrenswear design role.
• Strong commercial awareness of the UK market.
• Excellent knowledge of trend forecasting, fabrics, colour and print.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Responsibilities

• Design multi-product childrenswear ranges for a broad portfolio of leading UK e retailers.
• Collaborate closely with the wider design team to develop commercially relevant seasonal collections.
• Proactively drive product development, responding quickly to market trends, customer requirements and commercial opportunities.
• Research and interpret key trends across colour, print, fabrics and styling, translating these into customer-specific design concepts.
• Create accurate and detailed technical packs, ensuring clear design specifications and a smooth transition into production.
• Present design concepts, ranges and product developments confidently and professionally to customers.
• Work closely with customers to understand their vision, requirements and target market, ensuring designs are both creative and commercially viable.
• Collaborate with overseas design and production teams to ensure the original design intent is maintained throughout the product development process.
• Stay up to date with emerging childrenswear trends, competitor activity, retail direction and wider fashion influences.
