We are looking for an experienced and committed Childrens Social Worker to provide critical support to our team based at Mercury House, Richmond. This is a short:term, office:based assignment covering the recruitment process within the Children and Young Peoples Service.

About The Role

You will play a pivotal role in safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people, working directly with families, professionals, and multi:agency partners. You will be expected to manage complex cases, including child protection and court proceedings, while delivering high:quality assessments and interventions.

North Yorkshire Council operates under a defined practice model, grounded in systemic principles, Signs of Safety, and family:seeing methodology, promoting collaborative and strength:based approaches to social work.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver statutory social work services to children and families in line with legislation and best practice.

Manage a varied caseload, including child protection and court cases.

Undertake assessments and develop outcome:focused care plans.

Work closely with families and partner agencies to ensure child safety and wellbeing.

Prepare and present high:quality court reports and attend hearings as necessary.

Record all work to a high standard and in a timely manner.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (Social Work England registered)

Minimum 3 years post:qualified experience within childrens social care

Extensive experience in child protection and court proceedings

Strong knowledge of child welfare legislation

Skilled in systemic practice and strength:based approaches

Excellent communication, assessment, and case management skills

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

No current annotations or restrictions on your SWE registration

Assignment Details

Mon:Thu: 8:30am : 5:00pm

Fri: 8:30am : 4:30pm
