Locum Legal Assistant (Childcare) – South West Local Authority – 3 months + - Remote Working - £17.50 Umbrella

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Assistant (Childcare) to join a South West Local Authority on an interim basis.
This is a full-time position, offered for an initial term of 3 months. Fully remote working is available.

Duties and responsibilities may include:

  • Providing advice on routine and simple legal issues and cases
  • Researching and understanding relevant areas of the law to ensure Council policies and procedures remain compliant
  • Keeping up to date with changes in legislation
  • Drafting pleadings and witness statements
  • Preparing bundles for court/tribunal hearings
  • Requesting Court-directed disclosure
  • Liaising with Children’s services colleagues and liaising with external agencies
  • Establishing and maintaining good working relationships, both with clients and other members of staff.
  • Any other duties appropriate to the grade as may be assigned by one of the Legal Service Managers

The successful candidate will have achieved a good standard of general education, with GCSE grades A to C (or equivalent) in English and Maths. The postholder will also have obtained or be working towards the Institute of Legal Executives Diploma Level 3 or similar qualification. Good interpersonal skills are essential as are ICT skills with usual Microsoft Office packages and the ability to be administratively self-sufficient. A standard DBS is required for this role.

An hourly umbrella rate of £17.50 is offered for this position.
