Job summary

Cambian Group PLC in Bridgwater is seeking an experienced Children’s Residential Deputy Manager to lead care for young people aged 8–18. You’ll support daily routines, school prep and activity planning, while ensuring safety and high welfare standards.

This role offers £16.50 per hour plus a £30 sleep-in rate and a strong safeguarding focus, with opportunities for professional development and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Support young people with daily routines, school prep, meals, and planned activities.
• Develop a management style balancing control with staff empowerment.
• Plan shifts and ensure smooth running when on duty.
• Ensure staff understand each child’s placement plan and responsibilities.
• Attend childcare reviews and planning meetings to support best outcomes.
• Undertake direct work with young people and act as a positive role model.
• Collaborate with parents, carers and professionals to safeguard and promote welfare.
• Develop routines with young people and staff across all aspects of child care.

What You’ll Do

• As a Deputy Manager you will support young people with their daily routines; Getting them ready for school, prepping for meal times and planning activities.
• Develop a management style that balances the need to exercise control and give direction with the need to offer staff the opportunity to take decisions.
• Take responsibility for planning shifts and ensuring their smooth running when on duty.
• Take a leading role to ensure that each member of staff is aware of each child’s placement plan and their responsibilities for its implementation.
• Attend childcare reviews and planning meetings to provide information and achieve best outcomes for young people.
• Undertake direct work with young people and act as an appropriate role model.
• Work in partnership with parents, carers and other professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people.
• Develop in consultation with young people and staff routines in relation to all aspects of child care
