Job summary

NHS Jobs is seeking a Children & Adult Learning Disability Nurse to provide 24/7 nursing care for children and young people at Chailey Heritage Foundation School and associated services. The role includes mentorship of staff and students, maintaining NMC registration, and leading specialist practice areas in collaboration with the MDT.

Qualifications

• Mentor/mentorship of nursing and non-registered professionals.
• Maintain registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• Attend statutory and mandatory training and participate in supervision and personal development planning.

Responsibilities

• Work within a rota covering 24 hours, 52 week nursing care for children and young people.
• Act as designated specialist link for a defined area of practice (e.g., epilepsy, enteral feeding, bladder and bowel care, respiratory, tissue viability).
• Ensure staff deliver specialist nursing care and have up-to-date knowledge and skills.
• Attend statutory/mandatory trainings and maintain supervision records.
• Support clinical supervision and education of team members, including student nurses and medical students.
• Develop and contribute to specialist guidelines and teaching tools.
