Support Worker for Children and Young People

Experience: Working with Children and Young People, or at least 1 year of direct experience as a support worker.

Preferred Criteria: NVQ level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care OR Children and Young People.

This is a permanent position supporting children in a residential setting based in Chester. The role offers great benefits and opportunities for progression.

We are also considering candidates who can start immediately on a temp-to-perm basis. The initial 12 weeks are full-time, transitioning to a permanent contract from week 13.

Supporting children aged 5-16, your role will involve helping to increase their independence skills and providing support in any way you can.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High standard of general education.
  • Preferably NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care – Children and Young People (CCYP) or equivalent.
  • Willingness to undertake further training.
  • Current full driving license with business insurance (preferred but not essential).

Job Purpose: To provide support for vulnerable young people as part of the company's services.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the young person's allocated social worker in delivering services, including:
  • Providing transport and escort as per care plans.
  • Conducting welcome and induction sessions.
  • Performing ongoing assessments.
  • Providing support and monitoring.
  • Assisting with welfare and NHS issues.
  • Preparing reports.
  • Arranging appointments with partner agencies.
  • Maintaining contact with young people.
  • Informing about support groups.
  • Assisting with move-on processes.
  1. Maintain accurate electronic records of young people.
  2. Prepare for and attend meetings as required.
  3. Provide mediation to service users as needed.
  4. Use IT packages effectively to support work.
  5. Work cooperatively across multidisciplinary teams.
  6. Maintain confidentiality regarding service users, clients, and the company.
  7. Contribute to policy and procedure development.
  8. Report housing issues and assist with defect resolution.
  9. Undertake on-call duties as directed.
  10. Participate in office reception duties if required.
  11. Be willing to work sleep-in shifts.
  12. Show flexibility to cover all company offices as needed.
