Job summary

Training is central to the role and progression is encouraged within a supportive, multi‑disciplinary environment.

The post involves direct clinical work, training peers, and collaborating across services to ensure safe, effective care in line with iTHRIVE

Qualifications

• Qualified Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner or Core Professional qualification.
• Registration with BABCP or BPS as a Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner, or working towards registration.
• Postgraduate qualification in Children and Young Peoples Mental Health or related area.
• Recognised supervision certificate.

Inan exciting opportunity we are pleased to be in a position to expand ourworkforce and are seeking to recruit a number of childrens wellbeingpractitioners/Children, Young Peoples Mental Health Practitioners (CYPMH) to join or mental health service in Sunderland.This involves individuals who have the ability to assist in delivering lowintensity, and or evidence-basedinterventions for children, young people and their families who present with avariety of mental health difficulties.

Within this service model, the team is made up of a range of (CYPMH)practitioners. Training is at the forefront of our ethos, and progression issomething our services have an exceptional reputation in.This multi-disciplinary team will deliver a range of interventions that supportthe identification of mental health needs at the earliest stage, while enablingaccess to services that build resilience and promote positive mental wellbeing.

Main duties of the job

Weexpect the post holder to possess sound children and young peoples mentalhealth knowledge and skills. You will have the aptitude, motivation andenthusiasm for working within a pioneering service. Candidates will:

• Provide direct evidence-based interventions and outcome focused standards ofcare to children and families/carers.
• Post holders will deliver high-quality training, consultation, and support toother staff.

Job responsibilities

To work as a member of the Children and Young Peoples Mental HealthServices in South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust providing a Getting Help mental health service to children and young people.

This includes the direct provision of evidence-based interventions and outcomefocused standards of care to children and families/carers.

The delivery of high quality training, consultation, and support to other staff.The service will be delivered from Community bases as an integral part of anagreed iTHRIVE multi-agency model of Children and Young Peoples Mental HealthService provision.

Work collaboratively with multi professional teams to ensure practice is efficient, effective, evidence based and safe

This will be achieved by:

• Listening to and understanding the community.
• Bringing people together to develop a shared local vision with service users as equal partners.
• Assessing community assets, resources, needs andissues.
• Empowering community members to identify localissues and articulate solutions.
• Linking in with Community Mental Health Services(i.e. CYPS, IAPT, CTT).
• The post holder will ensure they uphold our Trust vision, values andbehaviours.
• To promote at all times a positive image of children and young peoplewith mental health conditions.
• To promote at all times a positive image of the specialist service area and the wider Trust.

Person Specification

Physical Skills

• Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
• Ability to manage own time and diary and meet requirements and demands of work within the service.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk as required across the full duration of the working day.
• The ability to, on occasion, move and handle objects in line with Trust guidelines using appropriate aids.
• The ability to work flexibly, sometimes working additional or unsocial hours, as necessary to meet the needs of the service and ensure a complete understanding is had in relation to care delivery.

Qualifications

• Qualified Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner (Post Graduate Diploma) or Core Professional qualification.
• Registration with a relevant and appropriate governing body, i.e. BABCP(British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists), BPS(British Psychological Society) as a Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner, (or working towards registration and successfully registered within the first six months of appointment); or Nursing, Teaching (with qualified teacher status) Social Worker, Allied Health Professional registrant with a willingness to undertake further training specific to the role.
• Additional post graduate qualification in Children and Young Peoples Mental Health, therapeutic training or other relevant area.
• Recognised supervision certificate.

Experience

• Experience of delivering low intensity psychological interventions to support the mental health needs of children, young people and families.
• Experience of working within a community or education context.
• Experience of working to safeguard and promote welfare in children.
• Experience of multi disciplinary team working.
• Experience of working collaboratively within a multi-agency context.
• Experience of teaching or delivering training
• Experience of working in a service where agreed targets are in place that demonstrate clinical outcome
• Experience of delivering caseload management/clinical supervision
• Experience of working within a Getting Help/Getting More Help CYPMHS

Skills and Knowledge

• Ability to carry out clinical and risk assessments with children, young people and their families
• Knowledge of universal and specialist childrens mental health service provision.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other associated IT packages.
• Proven organisational skills
• Proven time and caseload management skills
• Able to write clear reports and letters. Demonstrates a high standard in both written and oral communication.
• Ability to engage vulnerable and underserved populations.
