Vetro Recruitment is seeking a Residential Support Worker (Male only) in Crediton, Devon. You will provide vital support and guidance to young boys in a residential setting, helping them develop life skills and achieve positive outcomes in a nurturing environment.

The role requires strong communication, patience and a commitment to safeguarding, with duties including planning activities, monitoring wellbeing, and recording daily activities; Enhanced DBS check is required.

Qualifications

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working with children or young people in a residential or similar setting.
  • Mandatory compliance with an Enhanced DBS check and a Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and a compassionate approach to care.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and supporting children’s weekly activities, ensuring their voices are heard and their safety is prioritised.
  • Following individualised Placement Plans and supporting children’s attendance at education.
  • Maintaining high standards of safety, confidentiality, and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Recording daily activities, managing medication, and completing administrative tasks such as journals and handovers.
  • Promoting a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within the home.
  • Supporting children’s emotional, social, and educational development through positive communication and behaviour management.
  • Accompanying children on outdoor activities and encouraging their independence and life skills.
  • Responding appropriately to behavioural challenges, following de-escalation plans and recording incidents accurately.
  • Raising concerns with senior management and participating in team meetings and training sessions.
