Job summary

Remedy Social Work is seeking a Children\'s Social Worker to join the Looked after Children team in Bury. You will manage a caseload of looked-after children, carry out assessments and develop care plans to safeguard welfare and promote positive outcomes.

The role involves undertaking LAC reviews, promoting permanence through reunification, kinship care, adoption or guardianship, and working with foster carers and partner agencies to secure the best interests of each child.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of looked-after children and young people, ensuring safety and welfare.
• Complete assessments identifying risks, needs and interventions.
• Develop, implement and review care plans to promote best interests and positive outcomes.
• Undertake Looked After Children (LAC) reviews and reflect children’s views in planning.
• Promote permanence through reunification, kinship care, adoption or guardianship.
• Assess and support foster carers and placements with providers to meet children’s needs.
• Monitor placement stability and respond to safeguarding concerns and changes in risk.
• Work with children to understand experiences and advocate their voice, wishes and feelings.
• Develop relationships with parents, carers and families, including contact arrangements.
• Collaborate with schools, health services, CAMHS, youth justice, police and other agencies.

Job description

Our client Bury Council is looking for a Children's Social Worker to join their Looked after Children team.

• Manage a caseload of looked-after children and young people, ensuring their safety, welfare and developmental needs are met.
• Complete assessments of children and young people, identifying risks, strengths, needs and appropriate interventions.
• Develop, implement and regularly review care plans, ensuring they promote the child's best interests and achieve positive outcomes.
• Undertake statutory Looked After Children (LAC) reviews, visiting children in accordance with statutory requirements and ensuring their views and wishes are reflected in planning.
• Promote permanence for children through reunification, kinship care, adoption, special guardianship or other appropriate long-term arrangements.
• Assess and support foster carers, connected carers and other placements, working closely with placement providers to ensure children's needs are met.
• Monitor placement stability and respond promptly to placement breakdowns, safeguarding concerns and changes in risk.
• Work directly with children and young people to understand their experiences, promote participation and advocate for their voice, wishes and feelings.
• Develop effective relationships with parents, carers, families and significant others, including supporting family time and contact arrangements.
• Work collaboratively with foster carers, schools, health professionals, CAMHS, youth justice, police, education services and other agencies.
