Job summary

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Children’s Residential Support Worker for a specialist therapeutic home in Loughborough. This full-time, permanent role offers care and support to children with complex needs in a safe environment.

You will work with a therapeutic team to support education, life skills and emotional wellbeing, building strong relationships and contributing to care plans. Applicants should have a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare and a DBS on the Update Service.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence (and access to own vehicle)
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Ability to provide a full employment history and two professional references

The Role

As a Children's Residential Support Worker, you will provide high-quality care and emotional support to children and young people, helping them develop confidence, independence, and life skills. You will work closely with the home's therapeutic team, education providers, and external agencies to ensure each child receives the support they need to achieve their full potential.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing day-to-day care and support within the residential home.

About the Home

This specialist EBD Therapeutic Children's Residential Home supports children and young people with a range of additional needs, including:

• Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

• ADHD.

• Attachment Disorders.

• Trauma and Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE).

• Aggressive and heightened behaviours.

• Complex emotional and behavioural needs.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for resilient, caring, and reliable individuals who have experience supporting children or young people in challenging environments.

Essential requirements:

• Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle.

• Flexibility to work a shift pattern, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts.

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

• Ability to provide a full employment history and two professional references.

Desirable experience:

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).

• Previous experience in a children's residential home.

• Experience supporting challenging behaviour within residential care, education, secure settings, youth work, or mental health services.
