Break is a forward-thinking non-profit organisation that’s delivered support for young people across East Anglia for over fifty years. Co-production with staff, young people, and families is central to our work. We believe that with the right care, there is no limit to what can be achieved.
We have residential services, a fostering agency, Staying Close, Staying Connected, and services for disabled children and their families.
As a trauma-informed organisation, all our young people and employees are supported by our skilled therapeutic team. Our lifelong support means we are always there for our young people, even after they leave our care.
We have low staff turnover and vacancy rates. 100% of our services are rated good or outstanding, delivering great outcomes. Our goal is to grow further, creating an environment for talent development and impactful work. You could be part of this.
We invest in our staff’s future, providing high-quality care and support, whether starting or experienced in children’s social care. We recognize and reward your vital contributions.
As a Break Support Worker, you’ll work hands-on daily with young people in the children’s home.
Some young people need additional support due to trauma-related behaviors. Our solo children’s homes provide the full attention they need to thrive.
You’ll build relationships and trust with the young people, acting as a positive role model and supporting their recovery and development, with help from colleagues and therapeutic services. You’ll encourage new experiences and help them develop their identities.
You should be patient, team-oriented, emotionally intelligent, resilient, and capable of managing challenging situations. Being a good team player and problem solver is essential.
You must complete an NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare within 24 months of starting, which will be funded by Break, supported by our training team. A full, valid manual driving license is required.
Full details are available in the ‘documents’ section. If you’re eager to develop your career and make a difference, click ‘apply now’ to visit our application site. We may interview suitable candidates as they apply, so the role could close early.
We value diversity and encourage applications from all backgrounds. The first interview will be a Safe Care/Warner style interview; successful candidates will then attend a formal interview. An enhanced DBS check, funded by Break, is required. We will verify employment history to meet OFSTED requirements. We accommodate reasonable adjustments during the application and at work. All prospective employees must provide proof of eligibility to work in the UK, with further details to follow if invited to interview.
