Job summary

Chessington Garden Centre is seeking a Children's Play Centre Coordinator to plan and deliver fun, safe experiences for children of various ages. You will supervise play areas, run creative activities, and maintain high safety and cleanliness standards to create welcoming experiences for families.

This role requires safeguarding awareness, with a Basic DBS check and compliance with safeguarding policies. You will join an exciting new Play Centre with opportunities for training and development

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children in a play, childcare, education, leisure, or similar environment.
  • Must be 18 or over.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to remain calm, professional, and confident in a busy environment.
  • A caring, reliable, and enthusiastic approach.
  • A commitment to providing a safe, enjoyable and welcoming experience for children and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise children in play areas, including inflatables and activity zones, ensuring safety and wellbeing.
  • Plan and deliver creative activities and events, such as treasure hunts and arts and crafts suitable for different age groups.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, presentation, and safety of play areas and equipment, reporting any concerns promptly.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections of inflatables and play equipment, arranging repairs or maintenance.
  • Administer first aid and respond to accidents, incidents, or emergencies per company procedures.
  • Support the wider team and undertake additional duties as reasonably requested by management.

Job description

As a Children's Play Centre Coordinator, you will play a key role in planning and delivering fun, safe, and memorable experiences for children of various age groups. Your ability to supervise activities, maintain high safety standards, and positively engage with children and families will contribute to the success of the Play Centre.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise children in designated play areas, including inflatables and activity zones, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.
  • Plan and deliver creative activities and events, such as treasure hunts and arts and crafts suitable for different age groups.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, presentation, and safety of play areas and equipment, reporting any concerns promptly.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections of the inflatables and play equipment, arranging repairs or maintenance where required.

Safeguarding & Pre-Employment Requirements

As this role involves working with children, safeguarding is a key priority. The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Undergo an Basic DBS check
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Complete safeguarding training and comply with all company safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately in line with company guidelines.
Working Pattern

This role will require flexibility to meet the needs of the Play Centre and will include:

  • Working Fridays, and/or Saturdays.
  • Working during school holidays and peak seasonal periods.
  • Occasional additional hours to support special events and activities.A rota-based schedule, with working hours agreed in advance.
