Are you looking for a well-supported first post working with children and young people as part of a 'Good' local authority?

This is our second intake of NQSWs for 2025, with the programme commencing on 6th October 2025.

Surrey is a large and vibrant county bordering Greater London, Kent, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, and Berkshire.

When applying, please select your top 3 preferences from the available vacancies:

  • Northeast area office in Weybridge (Elmbridge, Spelthorne, Epsom & Ewell): Assessment, Family Safeguarding, and Children with Disability Teams.

  • Northwest area office in Woking (Woking, Surrey Heath, Runnymede): Assessment and Family Safeguarding Teams.
  • Southwest area office in Guildford (Guildford, Waverley): Family Safeguarding and Children with Disability Teams (operating from Woking).

Travel to your team’s office and within your geographical area is required for work with children, young people, and families, as well as meetings and training. We support agile working, combining home and office work.

The ASYE programme for Newly Qualified Social Workers is a 12-month development opportunity to embed learning and build your professional skills and confidence in frontline social work.

The programme is well-resourced, supported by experienced staff and managers, with regular supervision and guidance to develop your knowledge across various practice areas.

Our recent Ofsted inspection rated Children’s Services as 'Good', highlighting our well-trained, committed staff and strong leadership focused on improving social work quality.

Career progression opportunities include our Post-Qualifying Year 2 programme.

Benefits for NQSWs include:

  • Comprehensive induction and team onboarding.
  • Dedicated ASYE Assessor and supervision support.
  • Graduated workload with increasing responsibility.
  • Monthly reflective supervision and learning events.
  • Access to development platforms and training programs.
  • Protected development time and collaborative resources.

Rewards and Benefits

  • Starting salary of £36,817, rising to £38,817, plus a £6,000 completion bonus.
  • 28 days annual leave, increasing after 5 years, plus bank holidays.
  • Option to buy additional leave.
  • Extensive wellbeing and support programs, including EAP, carer's leave, parental leave, and pension scheme.

  • Have experience working with children, young people, and families (voluntary, placement, or transferable skills).
