ABOUT THE TEAM
We are caring and committed corporate parents to all children in our care. In Rotherham we have a dedicated service for children and young people with disabilities. We recognise the importance of providing a highly specialised service from the first point of social work contact, and throughout the child’s journey including undertaking work with looked after children and preparation for adoption.
This dedicated and passionate team use a range of communication tools, from iPads to Makaton to ensure that the child’s voice is heard throughout their journey. The Team endeavour to create a learning culture, working with children with disabilities as part of a multi-agency SEND hub. The team is based alongside specialist education and health services and undertake work as part of a multi-disciplinary team around the child.
The team are supported by a specialist disability family support team who support Social Work intervention by providing targeted interventions, an early help service and a Short Breaks and brokerage service.
