Job summary

Serco Limited, on behalf of Northern Community Leisure Ltd., is hiring a Children’s Basketball Coach in Bangor. You will deliver age-appropriate basketball coaching to children, plan progressive sessions, and foster a fun, inclusive environment that builds confidence and teamwork.

The role supports healthier lifestyles and community engagement at the Bangor Aurora Leisure Complex. The position offers casual, part-time hours (2–4 per week) with an hourly rate of £18.28 and a range of staff

Qualifications

• Experience coaching or leading physical activity sessions for children and young people.
• Basketball coaching qualification from a recognised governing body (or working towards).
• Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and health and safety practices within a sports environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, age-appropriate basketball coaching sessions for children and young people.
• Plan and deliver progressive coaching programmes that develop movement skills and basketball techniques.
• Create an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages participation and personal development.
• Promote teamwork, respect, sportsmanship and positive behaviours during all sessions.
• Ensure safety and wellbeing of participants through safeguarding and health/safety procedures.

Hourly Rate: £18.28 per hour plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Permanent, Casual hours, 2-4 hours per week across 7 days between 9am and 9pm

As a Children's Basketball Coach, you'll help young people develop their basketball skills, confidence and teamwork in a fun, safe and inclusive environment. Through engaging coaching sessions and positive role modelling, you'll support children to enjoy being active, achieve their potential and build a lifelong connection with sport. What you'll do as a Children's Basketball Coach

• Deliver engaging, age-appropriate basketball coaching sessions for children and young people


• Plan and deliver progressive coaching programmes that develop fundamental movement skills and basketball techniques


• Create a fun, inclusive and supportive environment that encourages participation, growth and personal development


• Promote teamwork, respect, sportsmanship and positive behaviours during all sessions


• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants through effective supervision and adherence to safeguarding and health and safety procedures


• Support festivals, tournaments, camps and community basketball events while helping to increase junior participation

Does this sound like you?

• Experience coaching or leading physical activity sessions for children and young people


• Basketball coaching qualification from a recognised governing body (or working towards)


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and engage participants of different ages and abilities


• Knowledge of basketball fundamentals and player development principles


• Understanding of safeguarding, child protection and health and safety practices within a sports environment


• A passion for developing young people through sport and creating a positive, inclusive experience for all
