Job summary

Leading law firm is seeking a dedicated Children Law Panel Member to join a high-profile team. The role involves providing expert guidance across the department, supervising junior solicitors, and contributing to training while maintaining excellent client service standards.

The candidate will handle complex childcare matters, work with cross‑functional teams, and participate in business development efforts, with a view to delivering outstanding advocacy and client representation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ PQE in family or childcare law.
• Registered with the Law Society with essential Children Panel membership.
• Clean practising certificate held at time of application.
• Proven supervisory experience and a track record of meeting KPIs.
• Strong leadership skills to address team concerns and foster change.
• Collaborative mindset to actively encourage internal cross-referrals.
• Proactive, professional approach with exceptional client care skills.
• Expertise in handling vulnerable clients and complex childcare issues.
• Excellent communication and networking skills to market the firm successfully.
• Driven to generate new business and expand the client base.
• Experience in publically funded Child Care work and ability to service privately funded cases.
• Advantage if experienced in advocacy.
• Excellent IT skills; proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Report directly to and collaborate with the Board to ensure targets are met.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to other team members in Children Law.
• Manage and supervise Trainee Solicitors and Caseworkers handling appropriate caseloads.
• Assist with delivery of training and development in the department.
• Handle a range of Children work including divorce, financial disputes, international aspects of child abduction/adoption, injunctions and related matters.
• Maintain a professional, proactive approach and contribute to business development.
