Job summary

King’s Church Darlington invites applications for a Youth and Children’s Pastor to lead, oversee, and develop ministry for children from toddlers to teens. The role focuses on building a joyful, safe environment where young people encounter Jesus and grow in faith.

You will disciple and teach, build relationships with local schools and churches, recruit and train volunteers, and champion safeguarding across church life, ensuring a welcoming, age-appropriate program that reflects our Newfrontiers

Qualifications

• Discipleship and teaching experience with young people.
• Experience with ages 1–18.
• Tech literate and understands contemporary youth culture.
• Strong organisational skills for rotas, admin, safeguarding processes.
• Aligned with King’s Church Darlington and the Newfrontiers family.

Responsibilities

• Discipleship & Teaching: teach and disciple young people with age-appropriate, Christ-centred teaching.
• Mission & Outreach: build relationships with local schools, churches and the community to share the gospel.
• Leadership & Team Building: recruit, train, and equip volunteers, manage rotas and events.

We’re Hiring: Youth and Children’s Pastor

Location: King’s Church Darlington

Reporting to: Lead Elder

Salary : £30,000 - £35,000 per annum based on experience.

At King’s Church Darlington, we are looking for a vibrant, relationally driven, and skilled Youth and Children’s Pastor to lead, oversee, and develop our ministry for young people from toddlers right through to teenagers.

About the Role

The primary heart of this role is to build a vibrant, joyful, and safe environment where children and youth experience genuine community, have fun, and are inspired to follow Jesus at every stage of their growing faith.

Key Priorities & Responsibilities

• Discipleship & Teaching: Passionately teach and disciple young people within the church family with age-appropriate, engaging, and Christ-centred teaching (accounting for diverse needs, including SEND and EAL).
• Mission & Outreach: Proactively build strong, meaningful relationships with local schools, local churches, and the wider Darlington community to share the gospel.
• Leadership & Team Building: Intentionally recruit, train, and equip volunteers, producing Sunday rotas, running midweek clubs/hangouts, and engaging with regional events and camps (such as Newday).
• Safeguarding: Act as the Designated Safeguarding Officer for King’s Church—leading on safeguarding policy, training staff and volunteers, managing disclosures, and embedding a culture of care and protection across all areas of church life.

• A committed disciple of Jesus Christ with a clear gift for leadership, ministry, and teaching.
• Demonstrated training and experience working with young people aged 1–18.
• Friendly, approachable, and technically literate, with an understanding of contemporary youth culture.
• Strong organisational skills to manage rotas, admin, risk assessments, and safeguarding processes effectively.
• Fully aligned with the vision, values, and theology of King’s Church Darlington and our wider Newfrontiers family.
