Job description

Are you keen to work with children and young people experiencing mental health challenges? Or do you want a change of clinical environment?

Within Children & Adolescent Mental Health Services in Buckinghamshire, we are looking for motivated Social Workers to join a dedicated team alongside other social workers, occupational therapists, and nurses, all committed to improving services for young people. Whether you are currently working in the NHS, a local authority, or an alternative setting and seeking exposure in a new area, we have a career path for you.

Role Overview

You will join our Single Point of Access (SPA) team, a vital frontline service and the first contact point for new referrals and inquiries, including self-referrals and those from parents, carers, and professionals. Your role will be crucial in ensuring timely clinical triage and appropriate signposting to support services.

  1. Triage new referrals, following service protocols, and referring clients to the appropriate service or back to the referral agent as needed.
  2. Deliver training to the wider children's workforce to ensure staff are equipped with necessary skills and knowledge.
  3. Provide consultative advice to parents, carers, and professionals on supporting children's mental health and emotional wellbeing.
  4. Support service delivery to meet national guidance and local key performance indicators.
  5. Use communication skills to understand and address sensitive issues, develop tailored interventions, and collaborate with external agencies to ensure appropriate interventions.

The ability to travel independently between sites within the Trust is essential. For applicants outside the UK, full qualification, passing the OSCE, and holding an NMC pin or HCPC registration are required.
