Job summary

Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital is seeking a Lead for the Children and Young Person's service on a fixed-term maternity cover basis. This full-time role (37.5 hours per week) leads the CYP service, supports parents and guardians, and collaborates with consultants to deliver high-quality paediatric care.

You will manage a team of specialist nurses, plan service development, participate in on-call rotas, and drive innovation to meet patient needs within an outstanding hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Be NMC qualified and have extensive post-registration experience in a children’s ward setting.
• Experience in clinical leadership and leading junior staff.
• Ability to engage with external stakeholders and work within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Willingness to participate in the on-call rota and drive service development.
• Post-registration qualifications such as EPALS/ILS/ALS are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the CYP service to ensure high-quality, clinically effective care.
• Oversee operational and clinical management of the Children and Young Person's service.
• Lead a team of specialist nurses delivering bespoke paediatric care.

As a Lead for the Children and Young Person's service you will:

• Play a vital role in the child’s journey through the hospital.
• Be a trusted guide and support to them as well as to their parents or guardians.
• Deliver high quality, clinically effective care as an essential part of our ward team.
• Work with a wide variety of cases which will broaden your skills. You will also work within different specialist areas.
• Be accountable for the operational and clinical management of the CYP service
• Work collaboratively with consultants and a range of stakeholders to drive and develop the CYP service
• Lead and manage a team of specialist nurses to deliver a bespoke service for our patients
• Participate in the on-call rota
• Promote innovation within the service to be responsive to service user needs.
  

To succeed as a Children and Young Person's Manager you will:

• Be NMC qualified and have extensive post registration experience in a children’s ward setting
• Have various levels of post-registration experience – and ideally EPALS, ILS or ALS skills or willingness to undertake further study.
• Experience in Children’s nursing with Adult nursing as an advantage
• Experience of clinical leadership
• Can work well individually and as part of a team
• Can engage and build relationships with external stakeholders
