Job summary

Oakmoor Recruitment is partnering with a Dorset-based training provider to recruit a part-time Childcare Assessor/Tutor. The role blends remote home-based delivery with classroom delivery and workplace observations, covering Diploma and Apprenticeships in Childcare to a local caseload.

The ideal candidate has strong childcare sector experience, with A1 TAQA or equivalent and a teaching qualification preferred. Training and DBS checks will be provided where needed.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills are essential for learner support and progress reviews.
• Ability to work remotely with self-discipline and time-management.
• Autonomy in scheduling and diary management to support learners.
• Experience with childcare settings and training delivery is important.
• DBS check is a requirement for the role.

Responsibilities

• Train, assess, motivate and support learners toward childcare qualifications.
• Develop and evaluate approved training materials, applying standard methods.
• Monitor learner progression with regular progress reviews and extra support where needed.

OVERVIEW: CHILDCARE ASSESSOR / TUTOR

Are you an experienced Early Years / Childcare professional looking to make your next career move?

Recruiting on behalf of a training provider that is big on quality, which is reflected in their Ofsted grade, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

This role is part time (20 hrs per week) and is a mix of remote home‑based delivery, classroom delivery and observations in the workplace. You will be responsible for the delivery of Diploma and Apprenticeships in Childcare to a caseload of learners in the Dorset area. The successful candidate will need to have a strong background within the Childcare sector. This could be Early Years, Teaching Assistant or Residential Childcare.

Ideally you will already hold the relevant Assessor qualification (A1, TAQA or equivalent) and ideally a Teaching Qualification. If not, training will be provided for the right candidate!

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: CHILDCARE ASSESSOR / TUTOR

• Train, assess, motivate and support learners on programmes towards achieving Childcare qualifications.
• Support, develop, implement and evaluate approved Childcare training materials, promoting standardisation, use approved training methods to develop the learner and utilise every opportunity to supporting them to achieving their qualification in a timely manner.
• Ensure the highest standards of learner completions are met and to monitor candidates progress, including carrying out regular progression reviews/additional support reviews.

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES: CHILDCARE ASSESSOR / TUTOR

• A1 Assessor Award (TAQA, CAVA, A1, D32/33 etc.) desirable
• Teaching qualification (desirable)
• Functional Skills qualifications at Level 2 (desirable)
• L3 or L5 Childcare qualification
• A minimum 5 years' occupational experience within a Childcare setting, ideally within a senior/management role
• Experience of working remotely
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously and manage own diary
• Full UK Driving License and use of own vehicle
• This role is subject to a DBS check
