Job summary

Redbrick Academy Oldham is seeking Childcare Practitioners to join our bank of staff on a zero-hours contract. You will help run our After-School and Holiday Club for children aged 5 to 15, delivering engaging, safe activities in a caring environment.

Shifts are offered as and when needed, with after-school sessions 3pm-6:30pm and holiday club hours, plus DBS and safeguarding training provided. All successful applicants will undergo enhanced DBS checks and reference checks, and will be supported

Qualifications

• Level 3 childcare qualification or equivalent (ideally).
• Experience of working with children aged 5 to 15.
• Paediatric First Aid, child protection and food hygiene training (or willingness to complete them).
• Reliable, flexible and able to work as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and enough English to ensure the wellbeing of the children.
• Able to use your own initiative and judgement.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver fun, safe play activities in a caring environment.
• Collect children from school and hand over to parents and carers.
• Prepare snacks and refreshments, maintaining hygiene and safety standards.
• Support children with homework and reading.
• Administer first aid when necessary.
• Set up and tidy the play space, including moving furniture and equipment.
• Involve children in planning activities and listening to their ideas.
• Keep simple records, such as registers and incident logs.
• Build good relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
• Follow safeguarding policies and procedures.

Job description

We are looking for Childcare Practitioners to join our bank of staff at Redbrick Academy Oldham on a zero-hours contract. You will help run our After-School and Holiday Club, which looks after children aged 5 to 15.

This is a flexible role. Shifts are offered as and when needed, to cover after-school sessions and holiday clubs, and you can accept the shifts that suit you.

Typical shifts:

• After-School Club: 3pm to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, term time
• Holiday Club: 9am to 5pm during school holidays
• Planning and delivering fun, safe play activities in a caring environment.
• Collecting children from school and handing them over safely to parents and carers.
• Preparing snacks and refreshments, and keeping to hygiene, health and safety standards.
• Supporting children with homework and reading.
• Administering first aid when necessary.
• Setting up and tidying the play space, including moving furniture and equipment.
• Involving children in planning activities and listening to their ideas.
• Keeping simple records, such as registers and incident logs.
• Building good relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
• Following the club’s policies and procedures, including safeguarding.

About You
