Local Authority based in South-East England

12 month rolling contract

Full time, 37 hours per week, 2 days in office

Venn Group is working with a fantastic local authority in South-East England in their search for a Childcare Lawyer on an Locum basis for an initial 12-month role (with the potential to be extended).

Requirements:

• Strong experience in Public Law Outline (PLO), handling pre-proceedings cases, and working to avoid care proceedings where possible.
• Familiarity with best practices in childcare law, particularly in supporting families to resolve issues without court intervention.
• Ability to work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of lawyers, paralegals, and legal assistants.
• Experience collaborating with Children’s Services to assess risks and issue proceedings promptly when necessary.
• Capability to handle complex and interesting cases, providing an opportunity to grow your expertise.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Pre-Proceedings Team, including lawyers, paralegals, and legal assistants, to manage PLO cases and ensure the best outcomes for families and vulnerable individuals.
• Actively contribute to the team’s goal of using PLO as a last resort, helping families resolve issues without escalating to care proceedings.
• Liaise closely with Children’s Services, adopting a holistic approach to problem-solving, while recognizing risks and issuing care proceedings when needed.
• Work on a wide range of complex cases, providing an excellent opportunity to enhance your legal skills in childcare law.
