Job summary

Canon Slade School, part of the Bishop Fraser Trust, is seeking a Child Protection Officer to work under the DSL. The role involves coordinating responses to child protection issues, supporting vulnerable children and families, and managing a case load with confidentiality and professionalism.

37 hours per week, term time plus five days, permanent contract. The post requires safeguarding commitment, excellent communication, and the ability to work in a multi-agency environment to safeguard

Qualifications

  • Experience of safeguarding/child protection with Children and Young People.
  • Sound understanding of child protection legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to identify, assess and respond to safeguarding concerns and risks.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, confidential records and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Act as first point of contact and co-ordinate responses to Child Protection issues.
  • Access support for vulnerable children and families.
  • Manage a caseload of the most vulnerable children and families and monitor impact of support.

YOUR MAIN DUTIES WOULD BE:

Primary purpose of the job is to work under the direction of the school Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL):

  • To act as first point of contact and co‑ordinate the response to Child Protection Issues.
  • To access support for children and families who are deemed to be vulnerable.
  • To manage a case load of our most vulnerable children and families and monitor and evaluate the impact of support.
