Job summary

Torbay Council is seeking an experienced Team Manager in Assessment & Intervention to lead a busy social work team in the Children’s Services department. You will ensure timely assessments, robust planning and high-quality interventions for children in need, safeguarding cases and court processes.

The role offers a permanent contract, flexible/hybrid working, and a market supplement. Competitive salary (£56,093–£59,335) with progression and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must hold a social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England.
• Experience leading social work teams in safeguarding settings is essential.
• Ability to oversee complex safeguarding work and decision making.
• Capability to develop practitioners through reflective supervision.
• Sound knowledge of current legislation, statutory guidance and safeguarding practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective leadership and management oversight of a busy statutory team.
• Lead practitioners through complex safeguarding work and risk management.
• Oversee duty on rota, Section 47 inquiries and high-quality interventions.
• Drive performance and create a positive learning culture for staff.

Skills

Social Work qualification & SW England

Experience in safeguarding

Management or supervisory experience
