Work For Scotland seeks a Chief Operating Officer to lead one of Scotland’s largest public service operations within Social Security Scotland. The role focuses on delivering performance, resilience and service outcomes across a devolved benefit system.

Based mainly in Glasgow and Dundee, you will manage an operational workforce of around 3,000, drive continuous improvement, and engage with Ministers and local partners to ensure accountable, dignified public services.

Aufgaben

• Lead one of Scotland’s largest public service operations.
• Provide assurance to the Chief Executive on operational performance, risk, resilience and service delivery.
• Drive innovation, continuous improvement and transformation to keep services sustainable, effective and responsive to changing needs.
• Support engagement with Ministers and key stakeholders to meet external expectations and accountability.
• Deliver critical benefit services with an operational workforce of around 3,000, based in Glasgow and Dundee.
• Provide visible and inspiring leadership to large, dispersed teams while focusing on service excellence and client outcomes.
• Translate organisational strategy into operational excellence delivering high-quality, person-centred services that improve outcomes.
• Ensure delivery reflects dignity, fairness and respect for people facing hardship, disability, ill health or other challenges.
• Provide strategic leadership across delivery, performance, workforce capability and financial stewardship as part of the Executive Team.
• Foster a high-performing, inclusive and psychologically safe culture and drive long-term public value.
• Operate in a complex, scrutinised environment with resilience, sound judgement and compassionate leadership focused on delivery.
