A national health organization is seeking a Chief Medical Officer to ensure effective clinical strategy and lead medical workforce development. The role involves collaborating with stakeholders to improve clinical quality and represent the organization in partnerships. Ideal candidates will demonstrate ability in strategic transformation and commitment to community health improvement. This is a permanent role with competitive remuneration.

Renumeration : £, - Consultant pay scale up to 12 PAs, plus management supplement
Option to retain up to 2 PAs per week on clinical activity associated with the postholders speciality (to be included in overall 12PA)
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is responsible for ensuring that NHSBT has an effective clinical strategy and has executive lead responsibility for the development of the Medical Workforce. Responsible for developing an ethos and culture within the medical community which drives sustainable improvement in the quality of clinical services for patients and donors.
Collaborates with clinical colleagues and other stakeholders to develop clinical quality initiatives and establishing monitoring systems for the achievement of local and national standards, including being the lead for Safety Policy.

As an executive Board member, the CMO will contribute to the development and implementation of NHSBT’s corporate strategy, leading the medical input in its development and implementation.
As an Executive Director the CMO will contribute to all aspects of the work of the organisation. All Directors work as part of a cohesive team and are expected to take lead responsibility for corporate and organisational wide outcomes above and beyond their immediate responsibilities; particularly to develop, drive and deliver strategic transformation across the organisation using innovative practise and championing the improvements in data technology and automation. Directors share responsibility to achieve the strategic objectives of the organisation, and effective communications with all staff and strategic partners, ensuring high quality care and the delivery of performance standards in a safe and sustainable way. This includes improving employee engagement to create a fully inclusive culture where everyone can contribute to their full potential and ensure that there is a zero tolerance of bullying, harassment and racism across the organisation.
Represent NHSBT, building strong collaborative partnerships with external stakeholder e.g. DHSC, NHSE, Professional societies and Royal Colleges, as well as international partnerships to promote the work of NHSBT and ensure its credible reputation.

Following a long list meeting of the Selection Panel, successful candidates will be invited to attend preliminary interviews with Odgers.
The final interview process with NHS Blood and Transplant will take place in early March .
