Job Description

Job Title: Chief Life Cycle Engineer

Working Pattern: Full-time, Hybrid

Location: Bristol

This role is central to the Defence Mature Engines team, focusing on ensuring the long-term reliability, safety, and performance of products for key Defence customers, including TP400 and MRTT operators. As the technical authority for in-service engines, you will shape support strategies, guide engineering deliverables, and engage with operators to resolve real-world issues, including preparing for future MRTT+ operations.

Team and Environment

This position is within the Defence business, supporting mature engine platforms in service, reporting to the Chief Engineer. We promote a culture of belonging, offering flexible hybrid working arrangements, typically attending the office around three days a week.

Responsibilities

• Lead the in-service engineering strategy for TP400 and MRTT engines, ensuring safe and economical operations.
• Define and oversee actions to improve reliability, availability, and maintainability across the engine lifecycle.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for customers, addressing safety, service concerns, and operational improvements.
• Develop aftermarket support plans for future MRTT+ operations and capabilities.

Candidate Profile

• A degree in Engineering, Science, or Technology with strong technical decision-making skills.
• Experience leading in-service engineering programs or lifecycle support activities.
• A solid understanding of product safety, reliability, and maintenance costs.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with internal teams and external stakeholders, including authorities and airframers.
• Proficiency in root cause analysis and technical policy development to meet service objectives.
